2000 GUINEAS 1923

The 115th winner of the 2000 Guineas, held on Wednesday 2nd May 1923 over the Rowley Mile, was Ellangowan (7/1), a brown colt by Lemberg out of Lammermuir, owned by the 5th Earl of Rosebery. The winner won by a head in 1 minute 37.80 secs, with half a length back to the third. A field of 18 runners contested the race which was worth £5,050 (Equivalent to £263,600 in 2017)
